appearance

Well, Zelos has quite the strange outfit, but. He's got very long, gently curled red hair that reaches past his waist, and blue eyes. He wears an Exsphere - which is a sort of "power up" in his world - in the middle of his collarbones, which is red and surrounded by a gold key crest. He wears a pink duster, trimmed with gold, lined with purple on the inside. He wears a black v-necked tank top under that, and gloves with that have the same black/pink/gold combo the duster and the tank top create. His pants are white and rather bulky - resembling harem/Arabic pants. He also wears some white ankle boots with some gold adorned on the front, and a white headband.

As for his body structure, he obviously takes care of himself and stays rather fit. He has a nice amount of muscle structure, but not a big amount either. He's somewhat on the tall side - reaching 5'10" and weighing in at 149 lbs.

And since I honestly fail at this kind of thing - have a picture.

personality

Well, to say the least, Zelos is rather silly.

At first glance, Zelos is just a big stupid flirt that only seems to care about himself. While he is quite the skirt chaser, and probably one of the biggest liars in the world, he's actually quite complex.

Due to his title of Chosen, no one actually treats him like a person, but more as the figure head of the church - wanting to be with him for his fame, not the person he is. He actually seems to long for a simple life, not the frivolous life he tends to live. He also bases most of his actions on the thought that everything would be better without him, and actually has little self-confidence in or like of himself. He's pretty sarcastic and doesn't take much to heart. Also, he can be downright cynical most of the time.

At the same time, he often strokes his own ego, constantly calling himself the best, and is more often than not cracking jokes constantly. He loves to tease, although it's usually for a purpose, and his levity is often useful or major hints - even if most don't notice. In the game, he grows to care for the main group, and you notice how he cheers them up and takes careful notice of their personalities.

He's also very sharp, and is usually one of the few who notices what's actually going on. Even though he's a double agent, he plays his roles perfectly. Although if he doesn't like you, he can be horribly bitter and biting - i.e. towards Kratos. He hates parents who are insensitive to their kids, and will let you know if he doesn't like you - even if he does it in a very subversive fashion. He's also pretty rude when you get down to it.

Although, even despite all that, he is quite the flirt. Don't let that fool you.

Probably having no one trust him, or care about him. He will deny it to the end that anyone does care. Anyone putting his flaws and things he's tried to put behind out in front would probably knock the air out of him. He'd also be scared of letting his actions effect those he cares for negatively.

Well, women, of course. ~~*hit*~~

But, he's a sucker for someone telling him that they trust him, especially if he trusts them. And like I said, having his flaws and such out in front would make him a little off center for a bit. That would be like a punch to the gut to him.

strengths&abilities

He's trained as a magic swordsman, which means he's very adept at fighting with a blade and can also cast some powerful spells. He favours a short blade or dagger, and his fighting style is very much like his personality - flirty and seemingly inelegant, but actually drives straight to the point. He can use a few basic element type spells, and also excels at a few healing ones. (Also, in the PS2 version of the game, he can cast very powerful angel type spells as his hi-ougis.)

Also, he's quite the flirt. He can get items out of women just by talking to them in the game. Pffft.

history

Zelos is the flirty, skirt-chasing Chosen of the flourishing world of Tethe'alla. The world of Symphonia is actually split, and Zelos is essentially the figurehead of the church of the world that was receiving the good end of the mana flow. The Chosen's role is essentially a human sacrifice to save the world, sent on a doomsday journey when the world falls to ruin. Not a happy title, although it gives him many "comforts" - and makes him filthy rich. XD

He was born in the Mana Lineage, and was quickly named the Chosen (apparently at a young age - his father is hardly mentioned, and is noted on killing himself in the manga). Unfortunately for young Zelos, his mother had been forced into the marriage, and neither of his parents cared much for him or paid him much attention. Better yet, his father had an affair, producing his younger half-sister Seles. Even though they apparently grew fairly close, events that happened early in their lives split them apart and distanced them greatly from each other.

When Zelos was about six, his mother took a blow that was meant for him (from his half-sister's mother, in fact), and died in front of him. Her final words to him were "You should never have been born." Zelos hated snowy days ever since, and most of his actions in his life ride on the thought that things would be much better without him.

Somewhere between him joining the party and after his mother's death, he was invited into Cruxis - the organization of "heaven" that rules the world and the church that governs it. They promised him to relieve him of his title of Chosen - which he always hated and defined most of his life - and give it to his sister instead. Although he seems to greatly dislike most of the members of Cruxis and their actions, he plays along and agrees to basically play spy for them.

When the heroes of the story appear - Lloyd, Colette, Genis, Raine, etc - Zelos instantly manages to worm his way in and attempt to fulfill his mission for Cruxis. However, Lloyd changes him greatly, showing him a way of life he thought was only possible in stories. He's surprised to have someone treat him as a person, rather than only recognize him for his title of the Chosen.
